Nourishing Little Minds (NLM) is an early childhood positive food exposure program proven to increase children’s interest and willingness to try new foods through positive food experiences. Developed by Nutrition Australia, NLM supports the development of healthy eating habits of young children, with a particular emphasis on vegetables and food variety.

This facilitator training course provides training and qualification recognising community health promotion officers to deliver the highly effective NLM program within their local community. Upon completion of this course, you will have the knowledge and resources to facilitate the NLM program, supporting the development of healthy eating habits of young children in your community.

This course has been funded by IMB Bank Community Foundation under the Community Project Grants program.

Result & Certificates

Upon completion, participants will receive a facilitator manual and digital toolkit to support the delivery of the 4-week NLM program in their regional area. Participants will also receive a certificate of completion, as documentation to contribute towards continuing professional education and development.

The NLM Facilitator training was designed for Health Promotion Officers in the NSW southern health district, to upskill them to facilitate the NLM program in their local communities.

This course is intended to upskill HPOs who are supporting families of young children in their local communities, and promote the development of healthy eating behaviours in young children.

This program is designed to provide evidence-based information, strategies, and skills to empower HPOs to engage with families early,  creating meaningful behaviour changes that promote long-term health outcomes.

The NLM Facilitator training consist of two components. The first component consists of  self-paced modules accessed through our multi-media online learning platform, and takes up to 90 minutes to complete.

The second component of the course is the interactive workshop, delivered live online. Access to the online workshop is provided through the online learning platform.
